Baseball is called the all American sport and has been the life dream of many a young man. Sports heroes in games like baseball and football are often role models for America's youth. The former Yankee pitching star, Roger Clemens, seems to have forgotten that unwritten rule. He is the fore front of sports news for his two very public bad decisions: alleged steroid use and an affair with country star Mindy McCready.
The affair started while McCready was 15 years old when the two meet. They have had a ten year on-going affair. The affair listed in the news has Roger Clemens, then 28, dating Mindy when she was 15. Mindy at that time was a karaoke bar singer.
If this wasn't enough, Rodger Clemens has been accused of using steroids while playing professional baseball. Roger Clemens has recently retired from the New York Yankees but the case of steroid use is under review. Mr. Clemens has sued his former trainer for defamation of character because his trainer has released the story that he was asked to give steroids and human growth hormone to Rodger Clemens between 1998 and 2001. Clemens has testified before the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform that he has never used steroids. This case is still under review.
The use of steroids has not been proven and is still under review but Mindy McCready has come out publicly saying the affair was real. The timing of the release about the affair is questionable as the ruling on the use of steroids is just coming to the fore. The main fact that comes out is the fact a gifted athlete that has made a lot of money by playing a game has brought dishonor to the name of baseball by not keeping his private life under control and might have used a substance that was illegal. This is not the image the American people think of when they think about a professional baseball player.
